Latina Futures hosted a compelling discussion featuring leading scholars on the political impact of women of color in the 2024 general election. Discover how these influential voters are poised to shape the political landscape, leveraging their unique experiences and intersectional identities to drive change.

Latina Futures joined the #HispanicsInPhilanthropy Conference2024 to discuss the role Latina leaders have in advancing evidence-based solutions to close racial equity gaps and counter the onslaught of attacks on DEI programs.

Fenomenal, Rompeforma 1989-1996, is a documentary about Rompeforma: Marató n de Baile, Performance & Visuales, the experimental Latinx dance and performance festival that took place in Puerto Rico from 1989-1996. Fenomenal, Rompeforma 1989-1996 features dozens of performances and commentary by many current leaders of the field, and some who have, sadly, passed. Fenomenal intends to inspire younger generations of Latinx artists and cultural activists by providing evidence of the rich creative and artistic contributions of Latinx individuals to the American avant-garde.

Latina Futures: Transforming the Nation Through Law & Policy featured prominent Latina scholars, attorneys, policy leaders, and law students from across the country to foster a multi-generational leadership pipeline that spotlights today’s 21st-century legal challenges and opportunities with a Latina lens.

Equal Rights Advocates, Latina Futures, 2050 Lab, the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center (CSRC), and the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute (UCLA LPPI), hosted a Latina Equal Pay Day event at the UCLA campus. The program showcased findings from UCLA LPPI showing the persistent wage gap that Latinas continue to face.

Join us for the panel “Queer LA: Past & Present” at the East Los Angeles Library. This intergenerational community dialogue will address the challenges and joys of building solidarity across LGBTQIA Latina/o/x/e groups that share similarities but also grapple with key differences.

The exhibition “Latina Lesbian Lineage” features materials from CSRC archival collections, including newsletters from Gay and Lesbian Latinos Unidos (GLLU) and Lesbianas Unidas (LU), ephemera from LGBTQ protests, and print materials covering LGBTQ topics and issues. Particular attention has been paid to changemakers Laura M. Esquivel, Elena I. Popp, and Yolanda Retter Vargas, also formerly the CSRC librarian. Curated by Latina Futures graduate fellows Vanessa Quintero and Jocelyne Sanchez.
